We do not operate a shelter. All of our animals are kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Our greatest need is for people willing to foster animals. If you would like to help by fostering an animal, please complete and submit the Foster Application form. If you foster an animal in your home, and every time it is adopted you get another, you could personally save a dozen animals in a year. E-mail for additional information The Success Story of the Year. This is a great success story. Mr. C has adopted three dogs from STARS and is a loyal supporter of rescue. When one of our vets called and ask if we could take in a seven year old Shih-Tzu, we called Mr. C who had recently lost one of his dogs due to old age. We asked if he would be interested in fostering this great little dog because we were full to the brim. He said that he would be glad to help, so we picked up this little guy and delivered him to his "foster home". Once we told him how this little guy, only seven years old, was dumped at our vet to be euthanized just because he had housetraining issues, Mr. C was already falling in love with him. He also has a crippled leg that is twisted, probably caught in a wire bottom crate at a puppy mill, but it doesn't seem to bother him at all. Mr. C has had no housetraining issues and his new buddy loves to go for walks in the park and hang out with his new dad. Seems when dogs are happy with their home, they can behave a lot better.
We were also told that if we had not taken him, he would have been transferred to the shelter on Friday, the day before the long weekend. If he had been sent there on that date, being an owner surrender and having the crippled leg, he would have been euthanized immediately. Isn't it great how fate steps in and works it's little miracles now and then. |
